EMA Liquid Explosive Detection System
Multi-spectrum electromagnetic analyzer for rapid LAGs screening at airport security checkpoints. ECAC Standard 3 certified for Type B and Type A. Detects explosive precursors and liquids in 5 seconds without opening containers. Multiple simultaneous sensing technologies. No ionizing radiation. TSA qualified.
Advanced Electromagnetic Analysis
The CEIA EMA Liquid Explosive Detection System is a compact device designed for rapid screening of sealed and unsealed liquid containers at airport security checkpoints. It automatically inspects LAGs (Liquids, Aerosols, and Gels) in approximately 5 seconds for Type B and 4 seconds for Type A screening without opening the container.
Certified to ECAC Standard 3 for Type B with optional Type A LEDS and TSA qualification, the EMA detects explosive liquids and precursors in clear, colored, or opaque plastic and glass, as well as metal and metalized containers of any shape. Using multiple sensing technologies, the system analyzes the entire liquid volume while maintaining a very low nuisance alarm rate below 0.4%. Its non-ionizing technology is safe for operators and passengers, and the solid-state design with automatic calibration and no moving parts ensures reliable, low-maintenance operation.

Specifications
ECAC Standard 3 Certification
An integrated Type B and Type A Standard 3-certified system with TSA qualification meets the highest liquid explosive detection standards. Type B LEDS are designed for screening individual liquid containers to detect explosives and their precursors in accordance with EU Regulation No. 185/2010. Certification covers liquids in clear, colored, and opaque plastic and glass, as well as metal and metalized containers of any shape. An optional external probe enables Type A sample cup analysis (10 ml), allowing a single system to support both screening methods.
Multi-Spectrum Analysis
Detection uses simultaneous multiple sensing technologies to analyze container contents without opening. The system employs advanced detection methods to analyze entire liquid volume in approximately 5 seconds for Type B and 4 seconds for Type A screening. This comprehensive approach provides thorough threat detection while maintaining very low combined nuisance alarm rate under 0.4%. Sophisticated analysis capabilities distinguish between explosive precursors and common consumer liquids with high accuracy.
Non-Ionizing Radiation Safety
Non-ionizing technology with no radiation or laser sources ensures safe operation for operators, passengers, and liquids. The system analyzes containers and their contents without hazardous exposure, using safe detection methods to verify liquid conformity. This eliminates the health and safety concerns associated with X-ray or radioactive technologies, allowing continuous use at high-traffic checkpoints.
5-Second Analysis
Automatic bottle detection initiates analysis in about 5 seconds for Type B and 4 seconds for Type A screening. The fully automatic process requires minimal training, with no manual controls or adjustments. A startup time of up to 15 seconds and rapid inspection support efficient, high-throughput checkpoint screening.
Universal Container Compatibility
Certified to screen liquids in clear, colored, and opaque plastic and glass, as well as metal and metalized containers of any shape. The system analyzes a wide range of bottle types and materials, eliminating the need for container sorting or separate screening procedures.
No Maintenance Required
Maintenance-free design with solid-state electronics and no moving parts ensures reliable operation and eliminates mechanical wear. Automatic calibration and continuous self-diagnostics maintain consistent performance without manual adjustments or service visits, reducing the total cost of ownership and maximizing uptime.
Minimum Installation Space
Compact, ergonomic design requires minimal installation space and fits easily into existing checkpoint layouts. The durable AISI 304 stainless steel and anti-friction plastic housing is robust, easy to clean, and designed for efficient bottle placement and result interpretation.
Sample Cup Analysis
An optional Type A external probe enables the analysis of 10 ml liquid samples in about 4 seconds when bottles cannot be screened intact. ECAC Standard 3 certification enables a single system to support both Type B bottle screening and Type A sample analysis, enabling flexible checkpoint operations.
Enterprise-Grade Performance
Designed specifically for professional airport security operations with high-volume passenger screening requirements. System meets stringent international certification standards for aviation security applications. Reliable performance in demanding 24/7 checkpoint environments. Proven technology deployed at major airports worldwide. Backed by comprehensive technical support and service programs for mission-critical security operations.
Energy Efficient
Low power consumption supports energy-efficient checkpoint operations and reduces operational costs. Universal voltage compatibility enables global deployment using standard electrical circuits without dedicated power installations.
Wide Environmental Tolerance
A wide operating temperature range ensures reliable performance across diverse checkpoint environments, from air-conditioned terminals to sheltered outdoor screening stations. Temperature tolerance accommodates seasonal variations and HVAC system fluctuations typical in airport facilities. The system maintains detection accuracy and calibration stability throughout the operating temperature range. No performance degradation during temperature transitions from cold morning startups to warm afternoon operations.
Accessories
Very Low Nuisance Alarm Rate
CEIA’s EMA has a very low combined nuisance alarm rate of less than 0.4%, maintaining efficient passenger flow through security checkpoints. Advanced detection technologies working in coordination provide high-confidence threat detection while minimizing false positives. The system analyzes the entire liquid volume to verify compliance with allowed liquids, reducing nuisance alarms from legitimate beverages, toiletries, and other permitted liquids. A low false alarm rate reduces the need for secondary screening and passenger delays. Optimized detection capabilities distinguish between explosive precursors and common consumer liquids with high accuracy. Critical performance metric for maintaining checkpoint throughput during peak travel periods.
