This system extends detection sensitivity beyond the previous SMD601 to detect metal threats previously considered undetectable due to their minimal dimensions, including disposable razor blades, special metal items (AISI 300 series stainless steel), and bullets as specified in the new NIJ-0601.03 Standard. Quick, accurate analysis covers all parts of the body from the shoe level to the crossbar, with 20 vertical localization zones for pinpointing individual and multiple metal targets. The optional integrated Correctional Profiling System enables NIJ-compliant screening of people with or without implanted metal objects, ignoring profiled non-removable medical implants while detecting target threats.

A full-height light bar and multi-zone display provide precise threat identification. With exceptional immunity to external interference, the SMD601 PLUS maintains high discrimination and transit flow rates five times greater than those of other metal detection systems, achieving reset times as short as 0.2 seconds and detection speeds up to 50 ft/sec. The IP66-certified antivandal control unit ensures unmatched reliability with no periodic recalibration or scheduled maintenance required.

The MI2 sensor is a multi-sensor technology, specifically an 18-axis passive magnetometer, integrated into Walk-Through Metal Detectors (WTMD). This technology combines the ability to detect metallic weapons (including magnetic and non-magnetic weapons and items made of light alloys) with the specific capability to identify mobile devices, including standard and miniaturized cellphones or smartphones with low metal content

The purpose of the MI2 sensor is to optimize security in high-traffic environments, such as correctional facilities, data centers, and corporate meeting rooms. By distinguishing between different types of threats, the system provides specific optical and acoustic signaling (red for weapons and yellow for cell phones). This allows security personnel to immediately identify the type of object detected, facilitating more efficient screenings, better management of access restrictions, and improved prevention of electronic device theft.
